Cardiff Sixth Form College literally searches the world for the best educational approaches. Our teaching philosophy draws from both East and West. Like our multicultural student body, we believe our integrated methods differentiate us from other boarding colleges.
Eastern education prizes rigour and discipline, and students receive a first-rate understanding of core subjects across the student body, while Western approaches value individual creativity. Each pupil is given pastoral care and encouraged to foster their unique talents.
At Cardiff Sixth Form College, we believe you shouldn't have to choose. Our teaching combines the strengths of both systems to create a unique educational approach.
For seven consecutive years, Cardiff Sixth Form College has been named Top Private Co-educational Boarding School and Top Independent Sixth Form College in the UK Education Advisers' Awards (www.best-schools.co.uk). In addition, the college has been ranked number one for A-Level results in independent school league tables published by The Telegraph and The Times for four consecutive years.

Our students progress to study highly competitive courses such as Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science, Law, Engineering and Economics, at prestigious universities. In 2016, 18 students progressed to study at the University of Cambridge, 16 students went to University College London (UCL), 14 students went to London School of Economics (LSE), 10 students went to Imperial College London and 8 students went to the Chinese University of Hong Kong (to identify just a few highlights).
Students live together in modern, purpose-built accommodation. All necessary resources are provided and as the accommodation is situated just a 10-minute walk from the college, educational resources and administrational assistance are never far away.
We have three different room types: cluster rooms, apartments and studio flats. Cluster rooms are shared by 4-6 students, with single bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms, in addition to a shared kitchen and lounge. Meanwhile, apartments feature two single bedrooms and have a shared bathroom, kitchen and lounge, while studio flats feature a single room with an en-suite bathroom and a kitchen, but do not include a lounge.
Cardiff Sixth Form College employs a professional pastoral team to aid students with the difficulties of living away from home. Students share their accommodation with a House Master or Mistress, a matron and a team of Student Support Officers. Together, the team provides pastoral care and stability around-the-clock, and is trained to be alert to students' physical and emotional well-being. It is important to us that students feel they are cared for and part of a community. Our pastoral team plays a large role in the warm, accepting environment we strive to promote.
We host a range of extra-curricular activities which foster teamwork and discipline, including sports, music, debating and the arts.
Skills acquired here carry over onto work placements, both at home and abroad, on international trips such as the International Citizenship Experience (ICE) in Malyasia and India, and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Switzerland.
Meanwhile, competitions such as the Science and Mathematics Olympiads, and NASA's UK Space Settlement Design Competition (UKSDC) and International Space Settlement Design Competition (ISSDC) encourage students to push their academic boundaries and introduce a global dimension to their work experience portfolios. To date, students from Cardiff Sixth Form College have formed part of the winning ISSDC team at NASA's headquarters in Florida for six consecutive years.
In addition to our A-Level programme (18 months/two years), we offer an A-Level Entrepreneur Programme designed to equip students with the skills required to study Business at UK universities, GCSE (one-year course), Summer Schools (Academic, Oxbridge Preparation and Medical Preparation), a one-term Taster Course (Sept-Dec) and international Study Camps. All courses include intensive English language preparation.
