Professional School Advice Services

Speak to an experienced impartial adviser

Education Advisers Ltd specialises in giving professional, impartial advice to parents on choosing the right private school in the UK for their child. This site concentrates on boarding schools, but you can find information about private day schools on www.best-schools.co.uk.

Our consultants are all very experienced in providing advice on education in the UK and on private school choice. You can read more about us here.

Our consultancy services broadly cover the following areas and the brief descriptions below explain our approach and how we can help you:-

School Choice

We refer families to all private boarding schools in the UK, covering age 7 through to 18. Private schools are also known as 'independent schools' and 'public schools' in the UK, but the common feature is that all of these schools require parents to pay school fees.

We start by building a profile of your child, based on their school reports, your own observations as a parent, and often an interview with the child. In many cases we will recommend that they take our own assessments in Maths and English so that we can best determine the type and level of school we should be targeting. Of course we pay great attention to your wishes and aspirations. We will then identify suitable schools which have vacancies and typically we will aim to achieve 3 or 4 offers. It is of vital importance to us that we find the right fit of school for child. We are always impartial and we are not influenced by financial incentives from schools. The majority of international education agents limit their recommendations to schools which pay them commission. Education Advisers works with ALL private schools.

School Admissions

Many schools are "selective", meaning your child will have to pass strict admissions tests. We will guide you through the admissions process for each school recommended. We can assess your child's ability and if necessary recommend experienced tutors to address any areas of weakness. We often find that a child may be at the top of the class in their own country but will struggle with entrance tests to UK schools because the style and content of their learning has been very different.

Curriculum

We can advise you on the best curriculum to suit your child and the impact on their application to university.

Relocation

If you are relocating into the UK, we can give you general advice on the best areas to live and how to get close to both the schools and your work location. If you need more detailed help, we have partnerships with relocation specialists.

University Advice

We have a separate service covering application to university which can assist with everything from choice of degree subject and university, through to the application process, including guidance with personal statements and interview preparation and practice. The service is modular allowing you to pick the specific elements that your child needs. You can read more about our university advice services here.

eGuides

We offer a large number of eGuides, most of which can be downloaded from our websites. They range from "How to Choose a Boarding School" to "Getting into Medical School" Our basic eGuides are free and can be downloaded by clicking on this link: eGuide Downloads. Fee paying clients are provided with a more detailed version which contains a valuable 30-point questionnaire to use when visiting schools. We also have a unique eGuide on "How to reduce your school fees", which is only provided to clients which have retained us.
